Pursuant to Article 98 of Law 5038/2023, a residence permit for investment activity (Golden Visa) may be granted to third-country nationals who hold executive or managerial positions in companies established in Greece or in subsidiaries of foreign companies established in Greece.
Cases in which the specific residence permit is granted:
To third-country nationals who either hold a participation of at least thirty-three percent (33%) in the share capital of a Greek company, with a cash contribution made personally by them amounting to at least five hundred thousand euros (€500,000), provided that the corresponding shares held are registered, or participate in a Greek company whose shares are traded on regulated markets or multilateral trading facilities operating in Greece, provided that the nominal value of the shares held amounts to five hundred thousand euros (€500,000) and
To third-country nationals who are members of boards of directors, legal representatives or managing directors, who do not receive remuneration, of Greek companies, as well as legal representatives of branches of foreign companies lawfully conducting commercial activity in Greece, provided that such companies have assets or a turnover of at least four million euros (€4,000,000.00) in the last closed financial year.
Duration and Renewal of the residence permit – Rights and Obligations:
The residence permit is initially granted for a period of five (5) years and may be renewed for an equal period each time, provided that the retention of the relevant investment is duly certified and all other statutory requirements are met.
The investor’s family members are entitled to be granted residence permit that expires simultaneously with that of the investor. Family members include: a) the spouse or civil partner, b) common unmarried children under the age of twenty-one (21), c) unmarried children of the investor or his/her spouse or partner who are under the age of 21 and for whom they have custody and d) the parents of the spouses or partners.
No right of access to any form of employment is granted.
There is no obligation to reside in Greece. Therefore, absence from the country does not affect the renewal of the residence permit.
